Batting practice and tee drills were my favorite part softball practice. I could swing a bat all day and still want to do more. There was one part of batting practice I didn’t care for, though. Rounding up all the softballs and refilling the ball bucket was such a hassle! Also, bending over to get a softball to reload the batting tee just felt awkward and slowed me down. All that time wasted picking up softballs could have been used for more practice. If you can relate, I’ve come across two products you should check out. The UpBucket Ball Bucket and the UpBucket Ball Retriever.
What is an UpBucket Ball Bucket?
It’s a genius product that takes your ball bucket off the ground and up to your level. Not only does this reduce back strain from having to bend down each time to get a ball, but it also decreases the set up time between pitches and tee hits. It can be used with either baseballs or softballs.
The UpBucket also has wheels attached to the base and a telescoping handle which makes it easy to tote around.
Are there any downsides?
The bucket doesn’t detach from the stand, so it may be a bit cumbersome trying lift the fully loaded UpBucket into a car trunk or into the back of your SUV. It also takes up more space than a regular bucket, so more room is needed for storage.
What is an UpBucket Ball Retriever?
The UpBucket Ball Retriever is a bucket with a semi-open bottom you can used to pick up your baseballs or softballs. What I like about this bucket is not only can you use it to pick up baseballs and softballs, you can use it to store your baseballs and softballs as well. Two heavy duty springs run across the bottom that allow balls to be pushed in but not come out.
The handle of this bucket comes up to about hip level and locks in place so you don’t have to bend over to pick up baseballs and softballs. In all, it’s a very handy product.
Are there any downsides?
The UpBucket ball retriever is a little harder to use with softballs. Baseballs snap right in, but you have to use a little more muscle to get the softballs into the bottom of the bucket. It’s not enough of a problem to prevent me from using it to pick up softballs, though.
