The Major League Baseball Commissioner, Bud Selig, stated that on behalf of the league, and all thirty teams, a $1 million contribution will be donated to help the victims of the Haiti Earthquake. This is an honorable move on the part of the MLB, and a poignant gesture towards the people of Haiti.

The country of Haiti was struck January 12th with a horrific 7.0 earthquake. The total number of deaths is in the thousands. The buildings have all suffered severe damage. They will have to start completely over, but with the help of the MLB and everyone else who has donated to Haiti disaster relief funds, we hope the rebuilding process will be as quick and painless as possible.

If you would like to join in donating to Haiti relieve efforts, please visit the official Red Cross website which can be found at the following link: http://www.redcross.org/
