In December, we got wind of a deal made by the PGA Tournament and Sony to broadcast the first ever golf tournament in 3-D.  At the time, this made me wonder what this would mean for the future of sports broadcasting.  Well, the answer to that question has come sooner than I ever expected.  On January 5th, ESPN announced they will be unveiling the first ever 3-D sports television station in 2010.  Once this comes out, you will be able to enjoy not just golf, but many other sports in 3D!

With the success of recent 3D films such as Avatar, it’s no surprise that 3D is catching on as a new form of television broadcasting.  It seems to me that ESPN is leading the way to what will probably be the future of all television broadcasts, sports or not.

What are your thoughts on these new developments in sports broadcasting?  Do you think the idea of 3D sports will be a hit or a miss?  Leave a comment and let us know what you think!
