The PGA Tour and Sony have officially teamed up to broadcast the first ever 3D golf tournament. News of this historic broadcast is absolutely thrilling for golf fans, but it’s not only golf fans who should be excited. This event has the potential to forever change the way all sports are televised.
Sports broadcasting has come a long way even in my lifetime. High definition television has brought the world of sports to our living rooms in a way never seen before, but if Sony’s 3D broadcast of the PGA Tournament is successful, we may see yet another mind blowing change in the world of sports broadcasting.
Imagine watching the Superbowl or the Olympics in 3D. Crowds in the stand will have depth and dimension. Football’s will have texture, and hard-hitting tackles will be seen from an exciting new perspective. Olympic gymnastics routines will be even more fascinating to watch, and sports like Olympic diving might take on an interesting new twist for viewers.
The future of sports broadcasting is upon us, and I can’t wait to see the results!
