How to Gift Ideas 2011 bats Reviews Baseball Bats Baseball Gloves football buyers guidePublished: October 26, 2009
Conditions
This bat was tested at an outdoor batting cage using yellow, dimpled pitching machine softballs. The weather conditions were warm and a little humid. A combination of hitting, slapping, and bunting was done while testing this bat.
Appearance
The bat has a traditional looking graphic design and color scheme. I like the dark blue and silver on the barrel, but I could do without the lime green in the lettering. Despite the color clash in the wording, this is a pretty good looking bat.
Weight
The bat’s actual weight came out to 23.776 oz. compared to the advertised 23 oz. I was also testing another 23 oz. bat at the time, and could tell there was a little extra weight in the H2. The slight weight difference had no negative effect on my swing.
Feel
I loved the feel of hitting with the Louisville Slugger TPS H2 XXL Hybrid Fastpitch softball bat. Every hit seemed to ricochet off the bat with barely a rattle even when I didn’t connect directly on the sweet spot.
The weight of the bat is concentrated towards the handle, which doesn’t help with swing velocity, but does help with bat control. I was able to easily direct hits towards the left, right, or center. My swing felt even and true each time.
There wasn’t much flex to the bat, but I was still able to get good power behind my hits.
Performance
This bat makes for some exciting hitting, because each hit seemed to fly without much effort at all. The sweet spot is huge compared to other bats I’ve used.
This bat is a bit too lively for bunting, but with all this bat’s pop, one could do wonders slap hitting.
Overall
Overall, I loved this bat. It felt good to swing, was lively, and made for some pretty impressive hits.
Rating: 4.5/5
Buy this bat if: you want a nice looking bat that can drive the ball out of the park or surprise the living daylights out of someone with a well placed slap hit.
Maybe not for you if: you’re looking for a bat to bunt with or like a bat with a lot of flex.
