How to Choose a Football Helmet

- Measuring the head
When fitting for helmet make sure the player’s hair will remain the same length before measuring.
First, place measuring tape one inch above the eye brow and around the crown of the head. Overlap the tape and pull to a snug fit to ensure the most accurate measurement.

- Ensuring proper helmet fit
After getting the correct measurement, write it down. Then refer to the football helmets brands sizing charts to get the correct size helmet.
Next, place helmet on players head and pull the helmet forward.
Make sure no more than a 1/4 of the players forehead is visible.
Check the temple area of the players head and check for excessive pressure or uncomfortable areas. Excessive pressure around the temple can cause headache, dizziness, and possible concussion.
