Mizuno has combined 100 years of baseball glove making experience with the latest bio-mechanical science to develop the Mizuno Pro position specific baseball glove with their innovative, and carefully researched 4D Technology
Appearance:
Being a traditionalist at heart, I have a hard time looking at gloves that are oddly colored, and even black tends to throw me off. So at first, the yellow look of this glove really didn’t sit well with me. However, my initial dislike quickly subsided as the break-in process began. A deep chocolate look began to appear in the palm, and slowly wore into the rest of the glove. The craftsmanship and the lacing are brilliant and the trapeze webbing is done well and has a great look in the hand.
Weight:
For a 12.75 inch glove, the GMP7 is very light compared to other gloves of its caliber. While it is a little heavier than a Wilson A2K, it is very comfortable on the hand and the extra weight is unnoticeable.
Feel:
The Mizuno GMP7 glove moves and forms well, with the breaks in the leather and webbing. Unfortunately, I found the fingers stalls a little short for my hands; the tips of the fingers push against the top of the stalls. The other problem I had with the feel of this glove was the 4-D technology. Mizuno scientifically determined an outfielders primary pressure points are the pinky and ring finger, and placed reinforcements in those fingers providing greater grip strength and transfer of energy from your hand to the ball. This innovation called for a pinky support in the glove, and this wrap inside of the stalls has a tendency to rub in the initial break-in period of the glove.
Break-in:
This is currently my personal glove, so I took my time breaking it in. It is a stiff glove made with Deguchi Leather, so don’t expect a quick easy break- in. I recently broke this glove in for a customer, and it took a generous amount of glove cream and some work to get it game ready in 2 days.

I tried on nearly a hundred gloves before making my decision to purchase this glove. Although initially put off by the color, I fell in love with the sleek smooth style that became apparent when you look closely at the glove. After the expected break- in period, this glove performed brilliantly. Light on the hand, it sucks up the ball well. With its traditional trapeze design, picking balls off the ground can be a challenge, but it does not present a problem for outfielders.
