NFL Strike May Be Good News For The UFL

Talks of an NFL strike have been looming in the air for quite a while now, and things aren’t looking good for this 2011 pro football season.  Chances are, we won’t be seeing any NFL play this year until the players and league have worked out their differences.  While this may be bad news for NFL football players and NFL fans, this is opening up opportunities for lesser known leagues like the United Football League (UFL).

The UFL is made up of players who were either cut from NFL training camps or NFL veterans looking to get their foot back in the door.  Out of 52 players per team, about 24 have had experience in the NFL, so there is definitely some potential for the UFL to be a good fill in this season.

Although sources say major networks are declining to comment, the UFL says it has already started talks with network executives about filling the NFL time slots if a strike were to occur.  That’s big news for a league that has lost $30 million in 2009 and $50 million in 2010.

What do you think of the UFL filling in for the NFL this season?  If you could choose, who would you have fill in?  Let us know in the comments!
